Utility Forms: Water – Sewer – Garbage
I want to connect my property to Wheaton’s water and sewer system. Please use the form below; it must be completed and submitted to Wheaton City Hall for consideration by the Wheaton City Council. If you are building a new home, you must also submit a Land Use Permit (see link below).
I want to have water service “turned on” at my property. Please find the utility app in the download section. If you are renting the property, the property owner must also sign this application (both you and your landlord will receive a monthly billing statement). Before water service is “turned on”, a $100 deposit is required for customers without a positive payment history, and for all renters. A $50 reconnect fee must also be paid.
I have purchased a home in Wheaton, and need to change the utility account to my name. Please use the form below (NEW WATER SEWER GARBAGE UTILITY APP) If you recently purchased the property, you must have the sale recorded at the Traverse County Records Office. If you are renting the property, the property owner must also sign this application (both you and your landlord will receive a monthly billing statement). A $100 deposit is required for customers without a positive payment history, and for all renters. A $50 reconnect fee must also be paid (if water service is “turned-off”).
I use water in my garden/lawn and do not wish to pay sewer charges for these special purposes. You may purchase, at your own cost, a water meter from the City for outdoor use. The form below (Application for Second Water Meter) must be completed and submitted to Wheaton City Hall for consideration. You may purchase and install, at your own cost, a water meter from the City for outdoor use. Please submit this form to City Hall for consideration.
Land Use Permit
THE NEW LAND USE PERMIT APPLICATION IS NOW AVAILABLE. You DO NOT need a Land Use Permit if you are replacing shingles, windows, or siding. If you intend to change (expand or decrease) the footprint of your home, porch, deck, patio, driveway, sidewalk or accessory buildings (by installing, removing, or remodeling), you have to have a Land Use Permit granted by the Wheaton City Council.
IF YOUR PROPERTY IS PART OF THE PRAIRIE TRAILS PLAT, there are some additional Protective Covenants that must be observed.

Winter Vehicle/Trailer Parking Restrictions
Once a snow emergency/alert is declared (will be announced on KMRS Radio), motor vehicles (including trailers) must be removed from city streets, avenues, and alleyways within 24 hours so that the Public Works Department can plow our roadways from curb-to-curb. If your vehicle is parked or left on a city roadway or alley, your vehicle will be towed.
